The photo with group of four Nash Ambassador cars is courtesy of the owners - Jim & Dorothy Bracewell (Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA). Jim is member and webmaster of The Nash Car Club of America (NCCA). I'm very grateful for his friendly comments and corrections. These are Jim's words about 1937 Nash models: "The difference (outer- A.B.) in the 37 LaFayette with the horizontal bars in the grill and the Ambassadors with the vertical bars is basically just that. They wore the different styles of grills. The LaFayette also had a FLAT HEAD (or L head) style engine, with single ignition. The Ambassodors had the overhead valve engine (Valve in Head) style with dual ignition. You will also notice the LaFayette did not have the parking lights or the chrome spears on the front fenders like the Ambassadors.
The outward difference between the 1937 Ambassador six and eight is only the hood ornament, and the eight has chrome strips on the sides of the headlights. The Eight is 4 inches longer wheelbase than the Six. Physically the cars are quite different. The Eight is much heaver and uses larger brakes, suspension, wheels, tires. The interiors are identical, except that the eight has a center arm rest in the back passenger seat that folds down for use.
The 37 LaFayette's interior is almost identical to the Ambassador's except the dash used brass instead of the silver used in the Ambassadors dashes. The LaFayette used a shorter wheelbase than the Amb. Six. But the Amb Six and the LaFayette used the same suspension and brakes and running gear, except the motor. The LaFayette was a smaller motor than the Ambassador."
